Learning in Legendary Lime Class

Please bring in the large plastic folder containing;

  • Reading books
  • Reading record
  • Smaller folder with RWI wordsheets, sight words and sound flash cards inside

Reading

We monitor and change reading books, check progress on sounds and sight words and send out new ones as the children progress on a weekly basis. If your child can read the sight words they can attempt spelling them (writing from memory) also. We also send out a wordsheet from the RWI book that they are working on in School. Please help your child to practise reading these words fluently. Reading practice will accelerate your child’s learning in all areas! Please try to set aside 5-10 minutes each day for this.

Mathletics (Click image for Mathletics login)

The children have some access to this programme in school each week however they are available to continue at home. I encourage you to try some activities on a weekly basis to supplement the children’s learning. Please click on the links below to access the websites. If you are experiencing difficulties logging in, please contact the school office.

Tapestry and Google Classroom

All children are now signed up to Google Classroom and can access it along with Tapestry; our online Journal. Work may be set and information may be shared via Google classroom so please familiarise yourself with it and check that your child can log into it at home.

Click the ‘Sign In’ button (right hand corner) to login, please ensure all other google accounts are logged out first.

Some work/activities are posted onto Tapestry as an alternate record of evidence and is available for you to view also. I would like to encourage children and parents to resume use of Tapestry to submit photos and information. The children can then share these with the class. Having this to refer to on a large screen encourages greater depth of discussion.

Some Do’s and Don’ts

Please do not bring in any bags unless there is a special reason agreed with School.

Please NAME EVERYTHING your child brings and wears to school.

A number of children are experiencing difficulties with changing to shoes with laces. Please only send your child to school in laced shoes if they are confident at tying them independently. Otherwise it can become a distraction and a hazard!

Achievements: If your child has engaged in extracurricular activities or tried something new (eg swim award, rode a bike, joined a club, etc.), then we would like the opportunity to acknowledge their achievements in school too.

Birthdays: Children can share photos to reflect how they celebrated their Birthday.

Please note that birthday treats (sweets/cakes) are not distributed in school, but can be handed out to children outside the main gate with parental supervision.

Special events and Family Celebrations: e.g. special trips, religious or cultural events.

If you have any queries, please approach a member of staff at the end of the school day or contact the school office to make an appointment.
