“Learning in Faith”

schoolchildrenWestcott Church of England School is a small and friendly school.  We have a caring, family atmosphere with excellent standards of care and education.   The school is situated in a rural village to the west of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

We are a Voluntary Aided School and we are in our final year of growing from an Infant School into a Primary School.  Since September 2015 Westcott Church of England School is able to admit children from Reception all the way to Year 6 (subject to the usual admissions criteria and available spaces).  The school has a Nursery as part of its Early Years and is able to admit children from the September after the child’s third birthday.

There is lots of information on our website about the school but if you would like to make an appointment to come and see the School please contact our Bursar, Mrs Karen Harvey, on 01296 651360 or email

Welcome from Mr. GraceMr Grace, headteacher at Westcott CE School

Westcott Church of England School has been part of this rural community for nearly 150 years.  It is a small combined school, which benefits our children, because the staff know the children and their families very well, and learning can be tailored to each individual.    It also enables us to plan exciting and challenging learning opportunities for our children.

“Teaching is consistently good, with some outstanding elements in the Early Years Foundation Stage.  Teaching assistants are experienced and skilful in supporting pupils who need extra help.”  Ofsted April 2013

My appointment as Head teacher in September 2011 was a key point in my career, having previously worked in a large Infant school in Aylesbury.  I found myself working more closely with the children, parents and staff at Westcott Church of England School.  Through the discussions with all the parties connected to the school and the wider community, it became apparent that the school needed to expand to become a through Primary.  The size of the development was made even bigger by the challenge of ensuring that the school maintained its warm and friendly approach to learning and supporting both staff and children.

“A caring Christian environment pervades the school enabling pupils to thrive and aspire to achieve their full potential.” SIAMS Inspection Report June 2015

Westcott is a Voluntary Aided Church School, and strong Christian Values are at the heart of our work.  Our last Church inspection reads:

“Christian values are central to the ethos of Westcott Church of England School and its teaching and learning.  The school successfully achieves its aim, ‘To promote in children a desire to examine and understand Christian values and to grow up in a Christian community, so that they will not wish to separate God from anything else they do.” SIAMS Inspection Report June 2015

Education builds on the foundation of our Christian Values, where Friendship and Forgiveness are central to all our relationships, and the children learn to Trust, Persevere and be Thankful.

“Learning in Faith” is part of our school logo, and I believe it is important that children develop into confident enthusiastic learners, with a love of learning, and an understanding of the Christian faith, that goes with them and sustains them through the rest of their schooling, and into adult life.

Selecting the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make. We hope our website will give you an insight into our Christian foundation, ethos, educational objectives and the spiritual framework, as a church school, we hold at our core.  I hope our web site has enthused you to find out more about our school and I would welcome visitors to come to see for themselves.  If you would like to look around please contact us by telephone or email.
